Abstract
Introduction
Programming language is a set of keywords and grammar rules designed for creating instructions that a computer can ultimately process or carry out. Some of the programming languages include BASIC, C++, C, Pascal, FORTRAN, Java and COBOL.
Programming languages are categorized into low-level language (e.g. machine and assembly languages) and high-level language such as COBOL, BASIC, Java and C.
Word Study
Language is a means of communication. It consists of all the verbal or written symbols and expressions that bare used to exchange ideas and information.
Low-level language are machine-oriented language in which each instruction corresponds to or resembles a machine instruction.
High-level language is similar to English Language and hence better understood by programmers rather than the computers.
Machine language is a language in which the instructions are in a form (binary code) that allow the computer to perform them immediately, without further translation being required.
Compiler is a complex program which converts a program written in a high level language into the machine language which a computer can recognize.
